When one neighbour helps another, we strengthen our communities.
A day filled with sunshine, laughter, good food, cold drinks, learning experiences and welcoming faces. Brandings are something our family takes part in multiple times throughout the spring months on many neighbouring farms and ranches. Although we don’t have beef cattle and process our bison in the winter with a very minimal crew, we enjoy attending these functions and lending a helping hand for multiple reasons: 1. it gives us an excuse for a family outing 2. brandings braid communities together through everything from communal meals to castrations 3. individuals from the next generation are shown with patience how to fill the boots of the men and women before them 4. it makes a huge job for one farm/ranch be less of a chore and more a day of celebration and fun.
When the day comes to an end there is nothing quite as satisfying as wiping the dust and sweat from your face, cracking a cold one and watching your friends turn their livestock out onto fresh green grass, knowing that one big job has been completed without a cinch, until next year.
