Hello Backwoods Friends & Family and Happy Holidays!!!
This Holiday season we are taking a step back and making things about presence and less about presents.
Instead of stressing about what to buy everyone, making countless trips to the city and acquiring Christmas debt, we will instead be making endless memories and have money going into the New Year!
I honestly think the choice of shying away from buying gifts for everyone was one of the best decisions we have made to date!
We hosted Christmas Eve and had a Skating, Food Eating, Game Playing, Beverage Drinking Helluva good time with some of our close friends and family.
It was a first for us and we are so honoured to have had so many visitors come to Backwoods to Celebrate the season with us.
I thought because we didn’t really do gifts this year… I would share a gift with y’all.
The gift of my “Backwoods Bootleg”Recipe.
(Apple Pie Moonshine)
You will need:
- 16 cups Apple Cider
- 16 cups Apple Juice
- 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 1/2 cups brown sugar
- Cinnamon Sticks
- 750 ml 190 proof grain alcohol (I use Everclear)
- Large Pot
- 15 250ml mason jars
First combine Apple Cider, Apple Juice, Sugars and Cinnamon Sticks together in your pot. Bring to a rolling boil for approx. 15 minutes. Lower heat and let simmer for an additional 10 minutes. Remove mixture from heat and let cool completely. Once mixture is at room temperature add the 750 ml of 190 proof grain alcohol. (If you put in alcohol before its cooled it could alter the potency)
Your moonshine is ready to be divided into sterilized masons! Divide all liquid, putting a cinnamon stick into each jar. Boil your mason jar lids in a pot of water, and remove one at a time, place on jar & seal!
Decorate your jars accordingly and you have a wonderful homemade Christmas gift!
Happy Holidays from our Ramch to Yours!!!
